Chapter 3: Academic Pursuits

While their love story was unfolding, Cory and Amanda were also carving out their academic paths. Cory pursued his Bachelor’s in Kinesiology and Health from Iowa State University (ISU). During his time at ISU, he not only excelled academically but also continued his to fuel his passion for hockey by playing for the university team.

On the other hand, Amanda ventured to the University of Western Ontario (UWO), where she pursued a Bachelor’s in Linguistics followed by another Bachelor’s in Psychology. She also showcased her athletic prowess by playing varsity Ringette for UWO. Balancing academics and athletics has taught them the importance of resilience and discipline – lessons that would later shape their approach to chiropractic care.

Chapter 4: Shared Dreams and Aspirations

After completing their undergraduate studies, Cory and Amanda felt a calling towards chiropractic care, marking another chapter in their intertwined lives. They enrolled at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Florida, where they honed in on their skills and gained a deeper understanding of the body’s intricate mechanics. Their commitment to each other was sealed in 2018 when they tied the knot while studying at Palmer. During their time studying at Palmer, they also adopted an active lifestyle, participating in CrossFit and continuing to play hockey together.

Chapter 5: The Golden State Adventure

Three years ago, the adventurous duo decided to make a move to Truckee, California. Cory began practicing chiropractic care in Truckee while Amanda practiced in nearby Reno, Nevada. Embracing the spirit of Tahoe California, they delved into ultra running, mountain biking and backcountry snowboarding, adding new dimensions to their active lifestyle.

Chapter 6: Coming Full Circle

As life often comes full circle, Cory and Amanda recently decided to return to their roots in Florida. They moved back to start a practice of their own and to be closer to family. Primary Spine Practitioner (PSP)

Primary Spine Practitioner (PSP) is a healthcare professional, often a chiropractor, physical therapist, or physician, who specializes in the management of spine-related disorders and musculoskeletal conditions. The concept of a Primary Spine Practitioner is designed to enhance the quality and efficiency of care for patients with spine issues.

The goal of a Primary Spine Practitioner is to streamline the management of spine-related conditions, improve patient outcomes, and reduce the need for unnecessary interventions or surgeries. This specialized approach to spine care aligns with the broader movement toward value-based, patient-centered healthcare.

Key characteristics and responsibilities of a Primary Spine Practitioner:

  • PSPs are trained to conduct thorough assessments of patients with spine-related complaints. This involves a detailed examination to identify the root causes of pain or dysfunction.

  • A PSP is skilled in diagnosing a wide range of spine-related conditions. This may include issues such as back pain, neck pain, sciatica, herniated discs, and other musculoskeletal disorders affecting the spine.

  • Primary Spine Practitioners utilize evidence-based treatment approaches. This means that their interventions are grounded in the latest research and clinical evidence, ensuring that patients receive care that is proven to be effective.

  • PSPs often work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, such as orthopedic specialists, neurologists, physical therapists, and pain management specialists. This collaborative approach ensures that patients receive comprehensive care that addresses all aspects of their condition.

  • PSPs prioritize patient education, empowering individuals to actively participate in their care. This involves explaining the nature of their condition, discussing treatment options, and providing guidance on lifestyle modifications to support recovery and prevent future issues.

  • Rather than focusing solely on symptom relief, a Primary Spine Practitioner considers the long-term well-being of the patient. They may develop comprehensive care plans that address both immediate concerns and strategies for ongoing spine health.
